About Leigh Developments (extra)

Leigh Developments is a private company owned and run by Evelyn Leigh.

Evelyn is married and lives in East Lothian with her husband and her 19 year old son.

Evelyn's career began in sales and advertising, but on a career break when her son arrived 18 years ago, a visitor to her home admired the curtains which Evelyn had designed and made. From this chance meeting came a job offer, which was shortly followed by Evelyn setting up her own company - The Curtain Design Company, supplying curtains to hotels, restaurants and nursing homes, as well as private clients. The company quickly expanded, with Evelyn employing several members of staff.

Evelyn's eye for design was not restricted to soft furnishings, and in the early 90s she attended her first property auction and purchased her first flat to refurbish and rent, in the Leith area of Edinburgh. She aimed to provide top quality accommodation at affordable prices - in this instance for the rental market. She quickly realised that the better the quality of accommodation, the more desirable it would be, and therefore the longer the tenant would stay.

The Curtain Design Company had supplied curtains to many different types of customer - and in many cases Evelyn was contracted to supply and fit curtains to show homes. It was apparent that the positioning of radiators and doors could be improved, to allow easier access when hanging curtains. Evelyn soon decided she could design a better house herself! This, combined with her previous successful ventures into the property market convinced her to do just that - and in 2002 Leigh Developments was formed.

Evelyn built the first Leigh Developments home in a small gap site in Musselburgh, and since then she has carried out many refurbishments throughout East Lothian. The site of Preston Lodge Rugby Club has been acquired for future development. Evelyn has also refurbished the prestigious five star holiday apartment in North Berwick - Aaran Apartment.

The common factor to all of Evelyn's developments is her enduring commitment to producing the highest quality properties, whether for sale or for rent. She has a unique ability to combine quality, contemporary properties with the comfort and style everyone wants in the place they call "home".

Evelyns son is now at Dundee University, so now Leigh Developments has expanded north over the River Tay.
